The Victoria Health Co-op is looking for a technology coach for their Board Chair. The coach is someone who can help the the chairperson master things like email, Facebook, Twitter, Google and provide ongoing support. The times and days are flexible.

Saanich Recreation is looking for a Skate Trainee. These volunteers gain meaningful experience supervising on the ice, assisting in the skate shop, assisting instructors with lessons, working on activities to improve their skills as instructors and skate attendants, and are part of a dynamic team.

  • Must be 15 years or older
  • Must be a competent skater
  • Proficient in the English language

The Vancouver Island Local History Society is looking for a docent/interpreter at the Historic House Museum at Point Ellice House. You must be 15 years of age or older.

Volunteers are central to operations at Point Ellice House Museum and Gardens. You will greet members of the public as they undertake a self-guided tour of the historic house, field questions, and add commentary and highlights to self-guided tours.

Orientation training for all volunteers is provided as well as ongoing training, particularly regarding the handling of artifacts and history of the site. Through self-study and regular meetings, you can research the permanent and special exhibits to create and improve visitor experience. No prior experience required – training is provided, including a large resource library for studying.

They are looking for long term volunteers (6 months to 1 year). Shifts are from 12 to 4 pm. on Saturdays and Sundays (or 12 to 2:30 pm and 1:30 to 4 pm).

The Victoria Arts Council is looking for volunteers to meet new people and impact the way people view art through gallery sitting. Volunteers will monitor the gallery and keep a running tally during their shifts. They are encouraged to interact with the visitors and answer questions related to the current exhibition or the organization.

New gallery sitters will be given a brief training before their first shift, and there will be a volunteer manual in the gallery for references if you need more guidance. There will always be a staff member on-site with the volunteers to offer help as well.

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12 – 5 pm. There are two shifts a day: 12 to 2:30 pm, and 2:30 to 5 pm.
