The Garry Oak Meadows Preservation Society (GOMPS) is looking for a nursery volunteer to assist with plant nursery duties. This include tasks such as weeding, re-potting, and sorting, testing and planting acorns. Training is provided.

Glengarry Hospital is looking for volunteers to provide friendly conversation for their senior residents, and support participating in activities. By engaging with them, you will be helping to increase socialization and reduce stress. This overall contribution to the residents’ quality of life is the invaluable difference volunteers make. There are several different available positions. These include supporting activities like an afternoon social hour, or helping with activities such as bingo. They can work with volunteers to find a role that best fits with your interests and schedule.

The Esquimalt Farmers Market provides a marketplace that serves as a community gathering point that facilitates building relationships and encourages healthy, local living, and both environmental and economic sustainability. They are looking for volunteers on Thursdays.

Volunteers are essential as they are responsible for erecting tents, tables and signs. They assist vendors with moving their products and setting up, waste management, and also help guide patrons. At the end they pack it all up again so the same market magic can happen the following week.

The Quadra Village Community Centre is looking for a Clothing Room Attendant. This volunteer will help to maintain the clothing room that offers free clothing, outerwear, footwear and household items. You will ensure the clothing room is kept clean, organized, and safe for all users. You will also help sort incoming donations and makes items available for community members. The time commitment is weekly for 1-3 hours. This is suitable for people 15 and up.

Parkwood Place is looking for a Bingo Caller. Volunteers here get to celebrate the ageless spirit of people. Volunteers will perform a variety of tasks to support the Senior Recreation Program. This position is essential and complementary to enhance the quality of life of residents.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist with room set-up and clean-up
• Establish relationships with residents
• Assist in group facilitation
• Provide individualized assistance to residents as needed
• Assist in providing light refreshments
• Calling bingo (includes setting up for the program, collecting money, etc)
