Service Opportunities – February 28

The SMUS Book Drive is looking for volunteers to help out with the sale next week. They need help to:

Organize books on March 4 and 5
Set up on March 6
Sell books on March 7 and 8
Pack up on March 10

There is an online sign up form. Please email,, or to submit your email address. You will then be added to the schedule so you can book a volunteer shift.

The Greater Victoria Down Syndrome Society is hosting the Canadian Down Syndrome Society National Conference in May and they need help to manage the registration desk. With assistance from the conference organizer, you will help to ensure participants are registered and receive required information and forms. The conference is at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort.

They need help on Friday, May 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 11 from 7:30 a.m. to midday. This opportunity is for people ages 16 and older.

Volunteer at Mount St. Mary Hospital to sit with senior residents and keep them company. Volunteer any weekday afternoon at any time or evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association needs a monthly clothing swap volunteer on the fourth Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

They need someone to help with:
– greeting folks and helping them lay out donated items
– keeping things tidy, answering questions and telling new folks how the swap works
– helping sort clothes at the end, some to keep for next month and the rest to donate
– putting away tables and boxes of clothes at the end of the day
