The Rocky Point Bird Observatory needs volunteers to sew bird bags. Wait – what is a bird bag?

Bird bags are used to keep birds safe, dry and warm while they are being transported from the nets to the bird banding table. The bags are washed after each use to minimize risk of transferring pathogens between birds. The frequent washing increases the wear and tear on the bags and they are in constant need of replacements.

A sample, cotton material and instructions will be provided. This volunteer position can be done in your own home – all you need is a sewing machine and thread of any colour!

For more information, contact Ann at [email protected].
