Service Opportunities – December 6

Ho Ho Ho! The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is one of the most recognizable annual fundraising initiatives and the funds raised are critical to ensuring they can keep their services running all year round.

Kettles shifts are available daily until December 24. They are open from 10 am to 6 pm, and shifts are 2 hours long.

Esquimalt Parks and Recreation is looking for a volunteer to help with their Kids Christmas Baking Program. The ideal volunteer enjoys working with kids 7-12 years old, has an understanding of basic kitchen skills and safety, and works well in a lively environment.

The Quadra Village Community Centre is seeking Clothing Room Attendants! Your role is to ensure the clothing room is kept clean and organized for all users and sort incoming donations, making items available for community members.

The Gift Wrap event is one of The Mustard Seed’s annual, volunteer-driven fundraising events. During the month of December, more than 100 volunteers participate in their annual Gift Wrap fundraising event. Volunteers wrap holiday gifts in exchange for a donation to The Mustard Seed. They are set up at Hillside Shopping Centre, Mayfair Shopping Centre and Tillicum Shopping Centre.

The Mustard Seed Street Church is looking for volunteers! The holiday season is approaching and so are a variety of volunteer opportunities. Find your fit and join their team of motivated volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity is holding its Gingerbread Showcase at the Parkside Hotel until January 6. This is where people come to view fabulous gingerbread creations from talented amateur and professional chefs. These chefs have spent hundreds of hours creating completely edible gingerbread displays.

They are seeking volunteers over the seven-week period to supervise and be on-site to make sure things run smoothly (and that no one eats the displays!). Shifts are between 9 am and 9 pm and are 3 hours long.

The MS Society is seeking volunteers to help with their Friendly Visiting program. Volunteers provide support, companionship and activities to residents in long-term care. Hours are set by the friendly visitor.
