Service Opportunities – September 27

The Royal Jubilee Hospital Gift Shop is looking for help. Volunteers are asked to work 3 four-hour shifts each month. Duties include being a cashier, helping customers find merchandise in the gift shop, stocking new merchandise and general help in the shop.

There will be three separate training shifts – one in the morning to learn how to open and set-up the shop, one in the afternoon, and one in the early evening to learn how to close up. There are always two or more volunteers in the shop at any one time. You need to be at least 16 years old to volunteer.

If you are interested, you can apply online.

The 1Up Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre is looking for a clothing room volunteer. They are a registered non-profit charity that has been committed to providing support to one-parent families across Greater Victoria since 1978.

The clothing room volunteers help keep the centre running smoothly by assisting with detailed upkeep and organization of the clothing room and related areas. Training and orientation will be provided.

Requirements:
– Reliable, organized and strong attention to detail
– Skills working in collaboration with others
– Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and help with moderate lifting
– 4-6 month commitment

They have shifts daytime and evenings during the week. For more information, contact them at 250-385-1114 ext. 233 or [email protected].

Do you enjoy baking? Are you are willing to bring a full cookie tin to the Swan Lake Nature House a couple of times a month?

Your cookies will be much appreciated by their volunteers. They have Outdoor Restoration Teams and Office Volunteers coming in on a daily basis. Please note that several cookie makers are needed because the Volunteers LOVE cookies! (And it’s OK to bake other treats instead of cookies.)

You can choose when to drop off the cookies because the Swan Lake Nature House is open every day. They will happily accept your cookies as often as you choose to make them! Please tape a list of ingredients and your name to the cookie tin.
