Service Opportunities – September 20

Volunteers are needed for this weekend for a multicultural, creative event called the Moon Festival Lantern Celebration at Gordon Head Recreation Centre and Lambrick Park this Saturday, September 22 from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteer opportunities start at 10:30 a.m. and different shifts run at different times of the day, depending upon schedules and needs. It’s a great opportunity for people to connect with cross cultural celebrations and festivities!

LifeCycles Victoria is seeking volunteers for their Harvest Celebration this upcoming Saturday, September 22. They are hosting a gathering to celebrate the season at their community orchard and are seeking amazing folks to support us for the event.

Volunteer at Mount St. Mary Hospital to sit with senior residents and keep them company. Volunteer any weekday afternoon at any time or evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Victoria Brain Injury Society is seeking volunteers and need an Art Program Co-Facilitator, to deliver creative art sessions with brain injury survivors. Sessions run on Thursdays from 3:15 to 5:45 p.m. There are also other potions available! For more information email

The World Rowing Coastal Championships are being held in Tulista Park in Sidney from October 9-14. This is the first time that this event has been hosted in North America! They require more than 200 volunteers to manage a variety of active outdoor positions. The ones that youth can volunteer for include Boat Launchers, Messengers, Bag Check, Swiss Timing Assistants (16+), and General Event Site Support.
