The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is seeking food bank volunteers. Volunteers work together with support staff to manage the day-to-day operations, ensuring clients receive a high level of service and care.

The Extreme Outreach Society is looking for volunteers to help run their Extreme Coffee House on Helmcken Road. This is a by-donation coffee house and they need people during the week, mostly during the day, so it might not work for everyone during school time.

SMUS Education Extension is in need of volunteers for spring break camps.

They need one volunteer who can help out with a cooking camp March 19-23, from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a volunteer to help with a sports camp on the same dates from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

YOUTHSPACE is looking for volunteers. Their compassionate volunteers are online every evening to validate the experiences of youth through instant message (IM) and text message . No prior experience is needed. Volunteers receive 40 hours of classroom training in reflective listening, crisis theory and trauma-informed approaches to suicide prevention.

You must be at least 17 years of age on the first day of training. If you are under 19 years of age they will also require permission from your parent or guardian.

Qualities they’re looking for in a volunteer? Empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgmental. Able to remain calm in highly stressful situations. Willing to commit to an extensive 40 hour in-person training program including skill development and practice, as well as at least 10 hours of homework reading and practice. Able to give back by volunteering at least 140 hours supporting visitors online over the 12-18 months following Basic Training. Willing to submit to a Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector search.

The 1Up Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre is looking for a clothing room volunteer. They are a registered non-profit charity that has been committed to providing support to one-parent families across Greater Victoria since 1978.

The clothing room volunteers help keep the centre running smoothly by assisting with detailed upkeep and organization of the clothing room and related areas. Training and orientation will be provided by the Volunteer Coordinator.

Requirements of Volunteer:
– Reliable, organized and strong attention to detail
– Skills working in collaboration with others
– Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and help with moderate lifting
– 4-6 month commitment
