Service Opportunities – January 11

Volunteers are an important part of the Victoria Women In Need Society. They are always looking for volunteers to help out at their retail shops. By volunteering you can give back to the community, gain valuable work experience and have fun. They provide training and shifts are flexible. Successful volunteers receive a store discount.

Volunteer Position Descriptions:
1. Volunteers to help in resale shops. There are four locations (Pandora, Cook, Langford and Westside Village).
2. Volunteers to assist in the warehouse to sort, hang and prepare clothing and other items for the resale shops.

Mountain Equipment Co-op Victoria is seeking volunteers (aged 16 and up) for their 2018 Race Series. There are four races throughout the year: March 25, June 10, Aug. 26 and Oct. 28. They need help with a variety of tasks on race days and leading up to the events. They provide training.

  • Event set-up/tear-down
  • Parking lot marshal
  • Gear check support
  • Food preparation and service
  • Course marshal
  • Aid station helper

The James Bay Market Society needs volunteers on Saturday, Feb. 17 for Victoria’s Seedy Saturday. This is an annual Garden Show and Seed Exchange and they need help with a variety of jobs.

Mount St. Mary Hospital is looking for chapel helpers for their Anglican Church Services. Volunteers will porter residents down from their rooms to the chapel to attend the services on the fourth Sunday of every month. Shifts are from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

They are looking for long-term volunteers (at least 4-6 months). Help is needed on the fourth Sunday of every month. Visit or call 250-480-3100 for more information .
