Members of the Volunteer Club helped with the Pet Therapy program at The Cridge Village Seniors' Centre on December 2.

Living Edge Community is seeking a volunteer graphic designer for poster creation. Living Edge demonstrates compassion for the needs of the homeless and marginalized in Victoria, BC. Visit their website for more information.


The success of CFAX Santas Anonymous Society in the community is a reflection of the generous, caring nature of volunteers.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join in and contribute to a great cause! They are always looking for people to collect toy donations at the malls, put together hampers in Santa’s Workshop and help out behind the scenes. Students can apply to volunteer on the Santas Anonymous website.


Give the gift of hope this Christmas. Volunteer at one of the Mustard Seed’s six gift wrap locations. All proceeds go towards helping Victoria’s marginalized people and people in need.

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers for their 2017 Christmas Kettle Campaign. Ring a bell and collect donations! This is a great idea for a group of you.

The kettle dates and times are from now until December 24. The shifts are daily from:

  • 10 a.m. to noon
  • Noon to 2 p.m.
  • 2-4 p.m.
  • 4-6 p.m.
  • 6-8 p.m.
  • 8-9 p.m.

Please let him know what area of town you are interested in (downtown, Oak Bay, James Bay, Royal Oak, Esquimalt, Saanich, Westshore, UVic), how many shifts you would like, and which days and times work for your schedule.

The Quadra Village Community Centre is looking for volunteers for their Holiday Dinner on December 14. They need help with greeting, seating, busing and washing dishes. Most shifts are from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and clean up is from 8 to 9 p.m.

The Extreme Outreach Society (who we work with for Hot Dog Wednesday) needs some help with their Christmas Dinner on December 16. Please visit the website and complete the volunteer application if you are interested. They also need help with their Warm-A-Soul Christmas stocking program. Santa’s Pancake Breakfast is an annual Christmas event for families that features musical entertainment, crafts and activities, a delicious pancake breakfast and photos with Santa! The Burnside Gorge Community Association needs help for the following shifts:

Friday, Dec. 8
Set-up for the Breakfast – 1-4 p.m.
Decorating Santa’s photo room – 2-6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 9
Greeters (front entry) – 8:15 a.m. to noon
Santa’s Photo Room – 8:15 a.m. to noon
Kitchen Crew – 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Clean up of tables/Recycling – 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Serve Pancakes – 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Parking Crew – 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Clean-up and Take-Down – 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
