SMUS students volunteered at Hot Dog Wednesday this week.

OB 1/2 MarathonThe Oak Bay Half Marathon is coming up quickly and they still need volunteers. They are looking for road marshals for race day, Sunday May 28.

Please note, this is a different opportunity than the one being offered by the Volunteer Club. This one is independent and you sign up, get there and contact them on your own.

braefootThe Braefoot Community Association is hosting their annual Family Fun Night on Tuesday, May 16. They need volunteers at the check-in desks, people to supervise the bouncy castle and inflatables, helpers at the craft table, runners, general helpers and someone to help out with the mascots.

SelkirkSelkirk Seniors Village is a seniors home serving a population of over 260 complex care residents and assisted living tenants. Volunteers work in a number of roles assisting to improve the lives of senior residents through meaningful interactions and shared participation in leisure and recreation programs.

This volunteer position has very flexible hours and best suits volunteers who are open to visiting with seniors during weekend and evening hours. The ideal volunteer for this position is friendly, enjoys the company of seniors and is a good listener. Visits could include walks, playing cards, reading or general socializing.

Volunteers must complete a thorough volunteer application process which includes a site tour and interview for placement. If placement is agreed upon by both parties, reference checks, a criminal record search and a TB test are required.

WINVolunteers are an integral part of Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative. They are always looking for volunteers to help in their resale shops.

They have four locations (Pandora, Cook, Langford and Westside Village). The stores carry good quality secondhand items and provide excellent opportunities for you to give back to the community, gain valuable work experience and have fun. They provide training and will do what they can to establish something that works for you. Successful volunteers receive a store discount.
