Volunteers are needed for Abkhazi Garden, a beautiful heritage garden owned by The Land Conservancy. Located in Fairfield, the garden attracts thousands of visitors every year and is supported primarily by volunteers.
Abkhazi Garden is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day during the summer season. TLC is seeking volunteers able to commit to at least one three-hour shift per week, either from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or from 2 to 5 pm.
Volunteers help out with greeting guests, collecting entrance fees and distributing brochures. Enthusiastic and proactive individuals who enjoy interacting with the public are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of plants is not essential and an interest in TLC, heritage gardens and local history is an asset. In addition, volunteers are required to assist with the gardening activities. The volunteer gardeners are under the supervision of a Head Gardener and a volunteer coordinator. Group activities are coordinated from time to time to learn new skills or visit other garden sites.
