jingle-mingleThere is a volunteer opportunity on Thursday, Dec. 1. This is a SMUS Volunteer Club-sponsored event and transportation and a chaperone are provided. Organizers of the Jingle Mingle event need people to help take down decorations from 7:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Boarders would get to miss prep, but with House Parent permission ONLY. saChristmas is around the corner and The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to ring those iconic bells on a donation kettle. By volunteering on a kettle you are truly “Helping us…Help others”. Last year, the centre provided over 2,500 families with Christmas hampers and 800 families with over 30,000 toys. In addition, the funds raised also supplement their Dignity Programs (Counselling, Learning Centre, Kids Camps) and about 1,000 people who turn to them for emergency help every month. Without the kettle funds, they could not provide assistance to these vulnerable people.

Kettle dates & times:

hospiceVictoria Hospice is seeking solo musicians to play quiet, background-type music in their family lounge. This is not a performance or a sing-along, but quiet music to facilitate reflection and a time to pause. Perhaps you play acoustic guitar or cello? Regrettably they don’t have a piano (and sorry, no accordions or bagpipes!). The times are flexible: they need volunteers in the late afternoon at around 4 p.m. for one hour every week or every other week. This is a good time for patients and their families to end the afternoon with a musical interlude before dinner.
