The Burnside Gorge Community Centre is having its annual Santa’s Pancake Breakfast on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 3. Once again they are looking for students who are interested in volunteering.
It would be great if two volunteers were interested in dressing up as elves and assisting Santa in the photo room! A wide variety of shifts are available.
Other volunteer opportunities include:
Clean-up & Recycling Crew; Craft Activity Leaders; Greeters; Kitchen Crew; Pancake Servers; Parking Crew; Santa’s Photo Room; Take-Down Crew.
Please contact Vanessa at 250-388-5251 or [email protected] for details or to apply for a volunteer position.
Extreme Outreach hosts a Christmas dinner every year. Feeding people a turkey dinner is an awesome way to create a community where people are safe and feel connected with each other. They always need volunteers to come and help with their programs, and the Christmas dinner is a fun and easy way to get involved!
This year it is on Saturday, Dec. 17. They need volunteers for various jobs. Visit their website to fill in an application form.
Here is a a donation opportunity for you to take on as a family or even with a group of friends! Every year, Extreme Outreach fills over 1000 stockings with gifts and treats. Although they focus primarily on children who are caught in the cycle of poverty, they also support people who end up at shelters, detox and on the street – people who would otherwise never receive a gift. They typically fill 300 stockings for women, and 300 for men. The Warm A Soul Campaign runs from November 15–December 15. For more details, visit their website.
Here’s How To Join In On The Fun!
Each stocking should cost approximately $20 to fill. For women and children, pick up a large red stocking from any Dollar Store. For men, use a pair of large wool socks. Put one sock in the toe of the other. Fill your sock/stocking with items such as brushes, hygiene products, clothing, toys, books, games, and hard candy. Here are a few more stocking stuffer ideas for men and for women.
They will include a card of encouragement with your stocking. Please refrain from adding your own personal note or information. Please call their office at 250-384-2064 to arrange stocking drop-off.
