fotLast year more than 2,700 children from Vancouver Island were treated at BC Children’s Hospital. The Victoria Festival of Trees raises over $100,000 each year to support research, purchase life-saving equipment, and fund the urgent needs of the hospital. To make the magic of the festival a reality, they rely heavily on the support of dedicated volunteers.

OBJECTIVE: Working with the Festival of Trees Committee and Leadership Volunteers, Kick-Off Celebration Volunteers will help enhance sponsor experience and raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital by assisting decorating teams and providing information about onsite fundraising activities.

selkirkSelkirk Seniors Village is a seniors home serving a population of over 260 Complex Care Residents and Assisted Living Tenants. Volunteers work in a number of roles assisting to improve the lives of senior residents through meaningful interactions and shared participation in leisure and recreation programs.

This volunteer position has very flexible hours and best suits volunteers who are open to visiting with seniors during weekend and evening hours. The ideal volunteer for this position is friendly, enjoys the company of seniors and is a good listener. Visits could include walks, playing cards, reading or general socializing.

Volunteers must complete a thorough volunteer application process which includes a site tour and interview for placement. If placement is agreed upon by both parties reference checks, a criminal record search, and a TB test is required.

winVolunteers are an integral part of Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative. They are always looking for volunteers to help in their resale shops. They have four locations (Pandora, Cook, Langford, and Westside Village). The stores carry good quality secondhand items and provide excellent opportunities for you to give back to the community, gain valuable work experience and have fun. They provide training and will do what they can to establish something that works for you. Successful volunteers receive a store discount.

downloadHabitat for Humanity Victoria seeks Gingerbread Showcase Room Ambassadors from November 19 to January 2.

Do you have a genial personality? Are you looking to get into the holiday spirit while you help Habitat Victoria raise funds to build homes for local lower income families? They have over 300 volunteer spaces to be filled at the popular Gingerbread Showcase. During a three-hour shift you will be welcoming some of the 25,000-plus visitors who come to the Showcase each holiday season at the elegant Inn at Laurel Point to see the elaborate, completely edible creations. Training will be provided.
