They would love to have a musical performance every day in December at both lunch and dinner. The Dining Room is a wonderful place to perform with many very grateful audience members.

esquimalt_parksEsquimalt Recreation is seeking an assistant cooking instructor for their Tuesday and Wednesday evening kids cooking classes. The ideal volunteer enjoys working with kids 6-12 years old, has an understanding of basic kitchen skills and safety, and works well in a lively environment. Tuesday and Wednesday 5:30 – 8:15 p.m. shifts are available.

Volunteer duties include:
– Assisting the instructor with all tasks related to providing cooking instruction to kids. This includes teaching and demonstrating kitchen skills, assisting students, engaging in all classroom activities and games, and ensuring a fun and safe environment for participants
– Assisting with classroom set-up and clean-up
– Communicating with the instructor and delivering information to parents and students
– The volunteer will be expected to be punctual, appropriately dressed, and able to spend the shift electronics-free.

Class details are:
5 Star Cooking (8-12 yrs)

Create meals and desserts that look complicated & taste amazing but are actually easy to make. These classes will also include more advanced tips for the slightly experienced young chef.
Tue Nov 1 – Nov 15 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 pm
Wed Nov 2 – Nov 16 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 pm

Christmas Baking (7-12 yrs)
Get ready for the holiday season with some baking classes. Make cookies, cake and sweets with a Christmas-twist while learning to use measuring and baking tools.
Tue Nov 29 – Dec 13 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Wed Nov 30 – Dec 14 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

greenteamThe Greater Victoria Green Team is looking for environmental volunteers to participate in fun and ecologically important events and activities throughout the CRD!

Some of the activities include invasive plant removals, planting native trees and shrubs, cleaning up shorelines, and many other types of conservation and restoration activities!

restore-logoHabitat for Humanity needs volunteers with customer experience to help out at the ReStore on Oak Street. Volunteers will process cash, debit and credit transactions using a computerized cash register and POS machine. All training will be provided.

Cashiers will greet and assist customers, and process small donations. If you are interested, you can find volunteer application forms in-person at the ReStore or online at

The Oak Street store is the closest one to SMUS. They need a minimum three-month commitment. Shifts are generally 4 hours per week. A criminal record check is required for cashiers.

jbHelp the James Bay Community Project keep their busy and active kitchen clean and organized by helping out once a week. They are looking for someone who likes organizing and is able to do this independently for an hour or two each week.
