Vancouver Island Model Engineer Society is presenting a Family Friendly Halloween Event “The Pumpkin Express”. The event dates are October 21-23 from 4-8:30 p.m. each evening.
They are looking for interested students to assist in preparing and volunteering. The prep includes volunteering before the event (decorating the forest areas that the train runs through), as well as volunteering during the event with supervision of craft tables, train track crossings, pumpkin carvings, haunted story walks, a scavenger hunt in the graveyard, and face painting and games. Everything is being held at the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society on Lochside Drive at the Whistle Stop.
A Halloween Orientation will be on October 15 at noon to get you signed up and orientated for the event. At this time you will also sign up for volunteer times and choosing the events you would like to help with. If you are unable to come, please contact the event coordinator Diana Wigen at email@example.com. Please make subject line “Pumpkin Express Volunteer”.
The Junior School is hosting the “Fall Family Fun Fest” on Saturday, October 22 in the Senior School double gym from 4:30-7:30 p.m. There will be a DJ and dancing, a kids’ fun zone, food, a photo booth and much more! They need some volunteers to help with parking and the kids’ zone (face painting, supervising games, etc.). If you are interested, please sign up at http://www7.mysignup.com/cgi-bin/view.cgi?datafile=family_fun_fest
If you would like to come along to Hot Dog Wednesday on Oct. 12 please email Ms. Parker to let her know.
Working with The Extreme Outreach Society, we set up a cart in Blanshard Court to serve hot dogs to kids and play all sorts of games with them like skipping, sidewalk chalk, soccer, tag, and hide and seek. It is a chance to connect with some great kids, serve some hot dogs, and brush up on your BBQ skills!
We leave the school at 3 p.m. and are back by about 5 p.m. You will miss a bit of 5th period, so please talk to your teacher and get permission beforehand to miss some of class. We have a ride down and a chaperone to go with you.
The Quadra Village Community Centre is looking for volunteers for their annual Quivering Village Carnival and Creep-House. Last year SMUS students were a huge part of the event and they are hoping for our help again!
