The Robert Bateman Centre is seeking enthusiastic, people-oriented individuals to join their dedicated team of volunteers (as docents or shop volunteers) who share an interest in introducing children and adults to the inspirational world of Robert Bateman. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about our environment, and to share your love of learning with visitors.
Docents lend their acquired knowledge of Robert Bateman, his art, his inspirations and the Bateman Foundation to visitors attending the Robert Bateman Centre.
Shop Volunteers introduce customers to a wide array of locally made works from a very talented pool of artisans.

Oaklands Sunset Market needs event volunteers! Be an integral part of an amazing community event building food literacy, supporting the local food and business economy, and providing a fun and educational gathering place for the Oaklands community and beyond.
Volunteers will receive $5 in ‘Market Bucks’ for each shift worked and a volunteer reference if working five or more market shifts. They need weekly volunteers who perform one or more of the following tasks:
– set up
– volunteer check-in and OCA information table
– recycling and sustainability information volunteers
– vendor load-in support
– vendor information support
– take-down volunteers
You need to be available for a 2-4 hour shift between the hours of 1:00 and 10:00 p.m. on Wednesdays through the summer, beginning June 22. They prefer a minimum of a three-market commitment, out of a total of 10 markets. There is a pre-season Mock Market training session. The Selkirk Waterfront Festival is looking for volunteers for a variety of jobs during the Saturday, May 28 event.
Photographer Assistant – Working with the photographer this mature assistant will keep track of photo waivers, assign numbers to each waiver and interact with the public. Volunteer should have strong communication skills. The volunteer is needed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Food Café Crew – As a member of the food café crew, volunteers will help to clear café tables as people come and go, direct the public to festival activities and monitor use of garbage, recycling and compost bins in the food court area. Volunteers are needed for the following shifts:
Morning Shift: 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Afternoon Shift: 1:15-4:30 p.m.
All Day Shift: 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
James Bay Outdoor Market needs Vendor Ambassadors and Stage Assistants.
Duties can include assistance with vendor set-up and strike, and providing helpful information and guidance with the market layout and nearby attractions. Volunteers receive free beverages and a snack. Regular volunteers will get a t-shirt and a reference for their time and commitment.

The Glenshiel is a retirement residence for independent seniors who never tire of musical entertainment. They are looking for volunteers with musical backgrounds (musicians and singers) to play for the residents in their intimate, homey space. They have a grand piano on site that has been recently tuned, and they have a music and microphone stand. They are happy to work with volunteers who wish to join in any capacity whether it;s on a sporadic basis or as regulars on a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly basis. The time commitment is flexible. Saanich Neighbourhood Place (SNP) needs childminders to care for small children while their parents attend programs on site. Volunteers should be mature, reliable and have some experience with young children. First aid training and a current CRC required. Island Sexual Health Society is seeking Youth Committee Members. Members of the youth committee are aged 15-25 and meet at least once a month to work collaboratively to offer feedback and direction to the organization. Duties also include designing and implementing projects to make sexual health a more youth-friendly topic, take the stigma out of accessing sexual health and encourage people to take care of themselves!
