Service Opportunities – April 21

Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:

Kensington-300x201Once again we are going to the Kensington Seniors’ Home on Saturday, May 7 from 1-4 p.m.

Activities include games, a few students may be helping in the library, a social tea to get to know everyone, a few games on the iPads, playing games on Wii, and just visiting and chatting with the residents. The options are endless.

We will have transportation and a chaperone, so all you need to do is show up with your enthusiasm! Please let Mrs. Parker know if you are interested in coming along.

OTSOperation Trackshoes is looking for approximately 250 volunteers to be Operation Trackshoes counsellors from June 10-12.

Operation Trackshoes has been around for 46 years, and sees a few hundred competitors with developmental disabilities from all over B.C. come to Victoria for one weekend every year for a weekend-long, track and field type event. Volunteer counsellors are matched up with one or more competitors and accompanies them through a track and field meet, and social activities throughout the weekend.

An OT counsellor provides friendship and guidance in very much the same way that a camp counsellor would. OT provides all the necessary training – no special skills are needed. They always have a competitor wait list so your participation will mean that at least one additional person will be able to come to OT.

If you have any questions, please call or email Shawn Slavin at 250-418-5450 or
