Selkirk Place is a local seniors’ home serving a population of over 260 Complex Care Residents and Assisted Living Tenants. Volunteers work in a number of roles assisting to improve the lives of the senior residents through meaningful interactions and shared participation in leisure and recreation programs and related services.
This volunteer position has very flexible hours and best suits volunteers who are open to visiting with seniors during weekend and evening hours. The ideal volunteer for this position is friendly, enjoys the company of seniors, and is a good listener. Visits could include walks, playing cards, reading or general socialzing.
Volunteers must complete a thorough volunteer application process which includes a site tour and interview for placement. If placement is agreed upon by both parties reference checks, a criminal record search, and a TB test is required.
