Since 2010, SMUS has been a part of a restoration program on Mt. Tolmie. With Dave Lock of the Mt Tolmie Conservancy Association, we have sent up groups to help with invasive species removal. We have had boarding houses go up, sports teams, Biology classes and PE classes. The mountain has sensitive Garry Oak ecosystems that become overcome by invasive plants like broom, daphne, ivy and blackberry.
Last Saturday a small group went up to help with some removal. It was a beautiful sunny day and they did a great job! Thanks to the students for helping out, Dave for hosting, and Mr. Daly for organizing.
