2015 Rugby Tour: A Long Haul

After almost 25 hours in transit the tour group has finally touched down to clear skies in Barcelona!. A long layover in Calgary afforded some time for the group to take in the BC AA Basketball Final and we are sending a huge congratulations to the SMUS senior boys team who took home the championships! We look forward to welcoming Graeme, Max, Matty, Liam, Angus, Lucas and of course coach Ian Hyde-Lay to the tour party tomorrow afternoon.

After settling into our accommodations the group had some down time and were given insructions on how best to battle jet lag. A 6:00pm training time was an excellent way to blow off some carbon and have a bit of fun at the local rugby club.  The boys have been divided into teams to help with the daily organization and current team captains Owen Sudul, Josh Graffi, Noah Pryce-Baff and Carson Smith have done a superb job in keeping their charges in line. The captains responsibilities will rotate with each stop and the much valued “captain’s hat” goes with the job!

A late dinner is the norm here in Spain and our scheduled seating is 10:00pm so the boys will surely be ready for bed by then! Then it’s up early tomorrow for a city tour before our first round of games which are slated for a 7:30pm kick-off.
