Physical Literacy is the ability to be self-aware and effective in one’s body movements, including gross motor abilities and coordination. Children with autism often struggle with basic physical literacy. Volunteers in our Physical Literacy program help our staff deliver individualized and adapted movement instruction (including jumping, crawling and other fun activities!) to kids and teens with autism, providing them with basic motor skills while enhancing their physical health, self-esteem, self-confidence and overall well-being. It takes place at Royal Oak Middle School.
