Every year at this time, a group of eager Grade 10 students challenge themselves with an experiential education. For the third term, the students are taken out of their regular classes for the remainder of the year and continue only in the provincially examinable classes (English, Math, and Science) as well as music and language.
These fortunate students go on a winter camp, participate in service days and take courses in survival skills, organic gardening, modern living skills (cooking, construction, bike repair), film and photography. The overarching theme of the program is to develop an awareness of self, self and others, and self and environment. The students produce a video that reflects their experience in the program. As the fresh batch of experiential students embark on their journey this week, we are sharing the video produced by our 2013 group.
