Middle School Musicians in the Spotlight

Unlike most of our concerts, the Middle School Melodies in March concert is not an annual affair; rather, it happens on the years when the teachers and students in Grades 6-8 are not in the throes of producing a musical. While Middle School choirs perform at the Carol Service and the strings students hold afternoon concerts in the gym, the Melodies in March concert is unique in terms of scale and variety. Band, choir and strings students all get their chance to enjoy the spotlight on a much bigger stage.

Last night was successful in terms of both showcasing the growing abilities of our students and capturing the diverse music they are able to play. Selections included tracks from the soundtrack for online game World of Warcraft and a country hit by Garth Brooks as well as classical works from Mozart to Vivaldi. Congratulations to all the musicians and their amazing teachers for a memorable concert.

Photos from the concert are available in the SMUS photo gallery and video will be on SMUSTube by next week. In the meantime, check out the video from our Large Ensembles Concert.
