A Visit from an Olympian

As the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games continue, the Junior School hosted an Olympian from the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. Jon Beare, a bronze medal winner in rowing, spoke to Mrs. Gardner-Hill’s Kindergarten class about the hard work and dedication it took him to successfully become an Olympic athlete. The children loved holding his Olympic medal.

“He showed us the different countries on a map that go to the Olympics.” – Finlay

“He had to work really hard and get up really early to be ready for the Olympics.” – Molly

“The rings connect all the countries. Canadians come together for the Olympics.” – William

“We live in Canada. That is why we cheer for Canada!” – Gabe

Our Junior School students don’t get a chance to row, but they do have a wide range of sports and activities to choose from. Check out the Junior School Athletics and Activities Guide to see ways to stay active in Term 3, from Grade 4/5 rugby to yoga club.
