Cedar Hill ArtJam Sessions

facepaintAre you an artist interested in supporting youth to explore and develop in the arts? Are you 16 years old or older?

The Arts Centre at Cedar Hill, through a partnership of Saanich Parks and Recreation and the Community Arts Council of Greater Victoria is hosting monthly ArtJam sessions for teens 13-17 years old on one Thursday per month from 4:00-6:00 pm. There may be a second session offered each month subject to volunteer and space availability.

With support from artist facilitators, teens explore art making and methods and have fun creating individual and collaborative projects. The estimated number of hours a volunteer will be required to give is approximately 3 hours per month until May, 2014.

Major responsibilities:

Assisting with set up and facilitation of art activities and materials as required
Supporting young artists with questions or assistance with art projects as requested
Assisting with cleanup of the studio and putting away materials


Keen interest in the arts and arts education
An arts background
Reliability and commitment to the schedule and shift
An outgoing, friendly personality
Responsible, flexible and can work collaboratively as part of a team
Volunteer must be at least 16 years old
Satisfactory Police Information Check (done in-house at mandatory Saanich volunteer orientation.)
Satisfactory completion of Child Protection Training (done in-house at mandatory Saanich volunteer orientation.)
All of our volunteers and staff must wear closed-toe shoes at ALL times. Please dress in clothing that can get messy.
