Outdoor Education: Leadership in the Wilderness

See some amazing photography and listen to outdoor leaders Celine and Gareth talk about their Outdoor Leadership 12 experiences in the video above.

Through our extensive outdoor leadership program, senior students develop their outdoor knowledge through three-to-five-day trips, weekly training sessions and mentorship from professional guides. Leadership students begin this course in the winter term of their Grade 11 year and finish in the fall of their Grade 12 year. By the end of the course, outdoor leaders will have gained a wilderness first aid certification, organized a backpacking, ski touring or sea kayak trip and performed environmental service work over the summer. The training culminates in the student taking on a counsellor role on the Grade 9 and 10 outdoor trips in the fall.

Take a look at the Outdoor Education Program page on the website for more information.
