Victoria Public Library – Reading Buddies

booksIf you like working with children, enjoy reading, are a fluent English speaker, and want to help emerging readers, the Greater Victoria Public Library needs you!

Reading Buddies volunteers mentor children in Grades 1-4 with reading practice, literacy-based activities and fun. They provide training and, upon completion, a reference letter outlining your volunteer hours. If you are a new Big Buddy, please complete a Teen Volunteer Referral Form and bring it to the training session. For ages 13-18.

How to Register for Reading Buddies
1.Register for Reading Buddies: Teen Volunteers.  You must be registered in one of these sessions to volunteer.
2. If you are new to Reading Buddies, register for Big Buddy Training Session.
3. If you are new to Reading Buddies, complete a Teen Volunteer Referral Form and bring it to the training session.

Registration for 2014 programs begins in January.

Spring Big Buddies: Teen Volunteers
Saturdays, February 22 – April 12 (8 weeks)
Central Branch: 1:45-3:00 pm and/or 3:15-4:30 pm (English)
Saanich Centennial Branch:  1:45-3:00 pm and/or 3:15-4:30 pm (English)
Esquimalt Branch: 1:45-3:00 pm (English)
Esquimalt Branch: 3:15-4:30 pm (French)

Spring Big Buddy Training Sessions (new volunteers only)
Saturday, February 15, 2014
Central Branch: 11:00 am -12:15 pm
Esquimalt Branch: 1:00-2:15 pm
Saanich Centennial Branch: 4:00-5:15 pm
