Under staff supervision, volunteers will help residents to have an awesome time while on community outings! There are many times and cool events to choose from.
Volunteers will go to fun events in the community with the residents of Nigel House. Your support, encouragement and enthusiasm will make a big difference for an adult with a disability. Join them for dances at the West Shore Recreation Centre Wednesdays from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, Malls or Movies on Thursday evenings 6:00 – 9:00 pm, or trips to different Community Events on Saturdays between 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Your support and participation will help residents to enjoy the many fun activities the city has to offer!
General volunteer orientation and training specific to your role is provided. There will be lots of opportunities to learn and challenge yourself with new activities. Your admission will be covered to most events and you will learn tons about communication, connecting with all sorts of people, and you will gain a sense of accomplishment and pride in making a difference in the life of another person.
Ideally they want volunteers who can commit for at least 6 months of volunteering for one outing per week.
