Junior Boys Basketball: Scrappy Efforts

The Junior boys basketball campaign did not get underway in the most auspicious circumstances, with Lucas de Vries, the team’s only legitimate post player, going down with a season-ending leg injury in the opening minutes of a November 26 match-up versus Belmont.

The squad did very well indeed to overcome this loss, scrapping away to a 38-34 victory, but found lack of height a serious detriment in the Gulf Islands Invitational tournament that followed. Indeed, despite the best efforts of Hari Ikonomou, Jonas Robinson, Timmy Qi and Jasper Bosley, SMUS lost its games against Cedar and the host Scorpions.
