Recitations: Keep Calm and Speak On

While the exercise of reciting a monologue in public is a rare occurrence, those who have this skill in their pocket when they need it find it invaluable. The English departments across all three campuses work with students on recitations so by the time they reach Grade 12, speaking in public almost seems normal.

This year’s Senior School festival of the spoken word featured diverse, inspiring, multilingual and thought-provoking monologues again this year. In the video, Grade 12 students Cecilia Shang and Adam Chan talk about how their duet, “A Love Letter” by Sarah Kay, came together and why they are glad they have had the opportunity to practice it.
