UCLA is located very close to Beverly Hills and the campus visit was the first one on our itinerary. The campus itself is vast and beautiful. There are acres of green space, including a sculpture park and multiple playing fields, and the student body, (40,000 grad and undergrad) is as diverse as the offerings at the university (337 degree programs). You can find almost anything here…except a business degree. If you choose the business economics program (closest thing to it), be prepared for heavy math courses, accounting, and economic theory.
The SMUS alum we met in LA, Rory, told us that first year classes were large and the curriculum challenging. He also mentioned the opportunities afforded by Greek life on campus and the plethora of athletic events to participate in or attend as a supporter. Students here work hard and play hard, was the impression we got.
