Weaving – Videographer/Photographer – Newspaper

The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association is looking for volunteers for a variety of opportunities.

  • Join a professional artist in removing invasive plants from sensitive ecosystems. This harvested plant material will become re-purposed into material to create decorative and useful items. Harvests will take place on Friday and Saturday mornings through February, March, and April. Contact Vanya McDonell at 250-382-4604 or email her at [email protected]
  • Join a professional artist in ‘re-purposing’ harvested plant material to collaboratively weave creative additions to a community garden. Weaving will take place Saturday mornings through February, March, and April. Contact Vanya McDonell at 250-382-4604 or email her at [email protected]
  • Assist at a booth at the ‘Creatively United for the Planet Festival’. Hands-on demonstrations of weaving plant material and assisting participants throughout festival.  Set-up and closing shifts require packing materials and clean up. Saturday and Sunday, April 20th and 21st.  Shifts available are 8am – 12pm, 12pm – 4pm, and 4pm – 7pm. Contact Vanya McDonell at 250-382-4604 or email her at [email protected]
  • Videographer/Photographer: Attend ‘Through Fairfield Seasons’ events: harvest of invasive species dates, weaving fibres dates, and Creatively United for the Planet Festival, to document this indoor and outdoor community art project.  Ideal candidate is passionate about documenting the participating people, art, places, plants, birds, and insects!   • The FGCA Observer Newspaper team is looking for enthusiastic volunteers interested in writing, journalism, editing, and formatting for a community newspaper.  They also need volunteers interested in distributing the paper to locations in the Fairfield and Gonzales areas.  Contact Kaari van Nostrand 250-382-4604 or email [email protected]
