There will be a Tree Appreciation Day in Saanich again this year. This coming Sunday, November 4th , from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Parks will have a few staff and lots of trees to plant both at Douglas Creek along the banks as well as along Glendenning Trail. They’ll have lots and lots of young trees to plant so they could use a lot of help.
If you haven’t been out to Mt Doug Park for a while to remove invasive plants but have an hour or three you could spare this Sunday, please come out and help plant. Dress for rain, (which is great for the young seedlings), so weatherproof yourself accordingly.
Native trees and shrubs will be planted along the Douglas Trail off Ash Road as restoration for 2012 Creek improvements and along Glendenning Trail in areas where invasive species have been removed.
