Changes to Scholarships – UBC and Queens

University of British Columbia
New this year – UBC’s scholarship application process has changed! There is no restriction on the number of applications coming from SMUS. For Canadian citizens and landed immigrants, the application deadline for admission if you are applying for scholarship is December 10, 2012. THERE IS NO SEPARATE APPLICATION for scholarships. Items taken into consideration: Academic profile, Marks, References and Personal Profile. I can’t stress enough how important the personal profile will be for both admissions and scholarships. Please have your advisor read these before you submit your application!

For international students there are some awards for outstanding students. These are modest merit-based entrance awards ($2 – 7,000) and you are considered for them automatically at the time of admission. You must apply by Jan. 31, 2013 in order to be considered for these scholarships. There is also the International Leader of Tomorrow award which is based on financial need, academics (at least 90% average) and significant service leadership. You MUST be nominated by me and prepare an application for this award. Please see me if you are interested.

General admission deadline for UBC is January 31, 2013.
