The Intercultural Association is looking for volunteers to be Youth Peer Mentors/Tutors. The goal is to bring local flavour to the after school program with Newcomer Youth. Peer Mentors will help support Newcomer Youth with their school work (English and Social Studies) as they begin to settle into an unfamiliar school system and larger community.
Volunteers will participate in social and community projects of the group’s choosing in addition to fostering a warm and welcoming environment in the program. Peer Mentors will offer friendship, information and support, and are interested in learning from the Newcomer Youth and their rich backgrounds.
Peer Mentors are expected to complete one shift per week on Wednesdays from 4:00 -5:30 pm. All volunteer positions are a minimum 3 month commitment. A criminal record check is required of all volunteers. Youth between 14 – 22 are eligible.
