Last year, the sustainability department at SMUS installed a solar hot water heating system on the top of the Harvey/Symons residence as part of a pilot project. Click on the audio file below to take a tour with Craig Farish, the sustainability coordinator, beginning in the basement where the tanks reside, up to the roof where the solar panels collect sunlight.
The line graph represents the electricity saved every day, the monthly savings in dollars, and the average sunshine per month on our little island. The chart shows approximately how the whole system works.
