The Middle School community celebrated a year of learning, fun and achievement last Friday with the annual Middle School Closing Ceremonies. Kicking off with a stirring rendition from the strings orchestra of the “Grand March” from Aïda, Middle School Director Xavier Abrioux recounted the highlights of the 2010-2011 school year. Head of School Bob Snowden celebrated the diversity of our school community with a story about an outdoor education trip on Thetis Island.
Student representatives from each grade shared their reflections on the year gone by before their classmates were called to receive their records of achievement, presented by SMUS Society Board Chair David Angus, SMUS Alumni Association Director Nicky Parkinson and Parents’ Auxiliary President Susan Ko.
The evening closed with the always-popular year-end slideshow: a fitting tribute to our Grades 6 and 7 students as they progress to the next grade and to our Grade 8 class as they say goodbye to their Middle School teachers and younger school mates and graduate to the Senior School.
