Beacon Hill Children’s Farm is located right in the middle of Beacon Hill Park. They have goats, sheep, donkeys, pigs, chickens, peacocks, mice, finches, guinea pigs, alpacas, and miniature horses. The farm provides both an educational and economical form of entertainment for the whole family. Their goal is to help children develop a respect for animals that will remain with them for life. There are many ‘farm’ jobs waiting to be done by volunteers.
You need to get a Criminal Record Check done (this can take up to 2 weeks to be completed) and must fill out a medical information form (available on their website). Being that they are a children’s attraction a criminal record check is essential for the safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff members. You can pick up a letter at their front donation table that will waive the fee required by your local police department. Once you have the criminal record check and the medical form filled out, you can take them down to the farm and then get on the schedule. Visit the website for more information and a full description on how to become a volunteer.
