Junior Students Learn Teamwork Outdoors

The Grade 4 classes spent a beautiful day at Camp Pringle on Shawnigan Lake developing teamwork skills and trying new activities. Students challenged themselves on the climbing wall, the low ropes course and a number of fun games where they were encouraged to work together for a common goal.

At Camp Pringle I learned SO many things it is impossible to list everything, but two of the things I learned were that you have to trust others and it doesn’t hurt to try. For instance, at the climbing wall we had to trust the person belaying us and to step up and reach even if you don’t think you can do it. My favourite activity was the low ropes because you have to trust others and others trust you. The whole camp Pringle experience was new for me. It made me feel like I was free to do anything I wanted to do.

At Camp Pringle, we learned how to use cooperation to complete tasks and to trust the ideas of others on the low ropes. In the field games, I learned how my movement affects others when we had to move a ball from one cone to another without having the ball drop. For every activity, you need confidence in yourself to complete each task. For example, the low ropes course where you needed to keep your balance. On the climbing wall you need to not just have confidence, but also faith and to believe you can do it. I would describe the day as fun, exciting and hard work.

If you are a kid and you like the outdoors then this is the place for you. They have a climbing wall, a high and low ropes course and more. You will get a camping experience. When we were there we learned cooperation, teamwork, trust, determination and friendship. Camp Pringle helped us conquer our fears and taught us to only race against our self.
