Cross-grade PE classes are doing something new this year. Thanks to the Middle School’s burgeoning health and nutrition program, students are spending two classes learning about nutrition and how to prepare their own meals. Supported by the Annual Fund, this initiative is designed to encourage kids to prepare food using fresh, healthy ingredients rather than eating processed food.
In their first lesson, the students learned everything from how to sharpen a knife to how to tell if chicken is done cooking. The students prepared a salad, got a lesson on how to make their own hummus and chips, and, best of all, enjoyed some great snacks. Each student took home recipes for their creations and will return next week to add to their culinary portfolios.
