Whether you are interested in volunteering at an information booth, interacting with the performers, being a stage manager, or helping with the many other details of the event, the Buskers Festival has something to offer you!
What is a Busker?
Buskers are street performers. If you have been downtown in Victoria in the summer, you have probably seen them in action. Performances can be just about anything that people find entertaining. Performers may do acrobatics, animal tricks, balloon twisting, card tricks, caricatures, clowning, comedy, contortions and escapes, dance, singing, fire eating, fire breathing, fortune-telling, juggling, magic, mime, musical performance, puppeteering, snake charming, storytelling, street art (sketching and painting, etc.), street theatre, sword swallowing, and even putting on a flea circus.
The event runs from July 15-24, and they would expect an average of 3 shifts per volunteer. Shifts are 11:00 am-3:00 pm, 3:00pm-7:00 pm, or 7:00 pm-close (which is between 9:00 pm-12:00 midnight). All volunteers will need to attend the Orientation Meeting on July 13th at 6:30pm.
