YMCA-YWCA Youth Dance Volunteer

The Volunteer Youth Dance Instructor will provide support to the members and participants who register in the Ballet/Jazz program. The volunteer in this position will assist and support the Creative Dance Instructor. The volunteer will help to create and maintain a welcoming, friendly, safe and respectful environment which affirms and promotes the dignity of people with diverse backgrounds and needs, does not tolerate abusive behavior, and reinforces socially responsible behavior.

The volunteer will help take attendance and assist in teaching creative movements, while creating relationships with members and participants. The Youth Dance volunteer will be based at the Downtown YMCA-YWCA facility. The successful candidate for this position will work as a part of a volunteer/staff team on Saturdays from 10:15 – 11:30am.

Responsibilities:
•To monitor the program area while creating a safe, welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
•To ensure attendance is taken.
•To assist leading creative movement and dance.
•To ensure excellent customer services is provided.
•To maintain and develop relationships with members, participants, staff and other volunteers within the YMCA-YWCA.

Qualifications:
•Ballet and/or Jazz dance experience is preferred.
•Reliable and dependable.
•Experience in leading activities for youth ages 6 – 8 years.
•Clear Criminal Reference Check is required.
•Standard First Aid and CPR-C is required.
