United Way YouthNOW Advisory Council Member

The YouthNOW Advisory Council is looking for a Youth Advisory Council Member. The Council is responsible for 3 key activities per year:

1. Making funding recommendations for youth-led/youth-focused projects

2. Planning an annual youth learning event (conferences and workshops)

3. Planning and hosting the annual YouthNOW Awards – a region-wide youth recognition program

Council members spend approximately 30 to 40 hours per year on activities (with no meetings during July/August). They are looking for a 1 year commitment. There is one 2-hour meeting per month plus prep and planning work on your own time.

The United Way of Greater Victoria has a proud 70-year history of helping people as an independent non-profit organization. Family & Community Well-being, Housing for Homeless, Low Income & Working Poor, and Mental Health & Addictions are the most important critical social issues that need to be addressed in our region. United Way funding is invested in these areas to help create systemic changes that will create a stronger and healthier community.
