Our Grade 5 students wrapped up their study of Greek mythology this week by celebrating the ancient culture with presentations, games and feasts. Students dressed up as Greek gods and goddesses, playing the roles of the deities they had researched for projects throughout the term.
Organized into groups representing Greek city-states, the students had a memorable morning participating in a variety of activities, including chariot races, Parthenon-building (using only paper and tape), Greek dancing and a trivia game. Teachers Mrs. Yorath and Ms. Newsome also dressed up, and provided the students with a great feast, featuring many foods, such as fruit and flatbread, enjoyed centuries ago in Greece.
The festivities were a great way to end the unit and for students to show what they had learned over the last few weeks.
