The Grade 5 students take to the stage next week in a production of There’s a Monster in My Closet, a musical comedy about a sleepover gone awry, as a group of girls attempt to capture a monster. The humourous and magical story makes for an entertaining evening for the whole family, as do the wonderful dramatic and vocal performances given by the hard-working actors.
The story follows Emily, who must recruit her various friends to help her unravel the mysteries surrounding what’s lurking beyond the borders of reality, while putting up with the antics of her brother and his friends. The play delightfully characterizes the endless battle between the genders while providing much excitement and drama, as the girls careful plans lead to unintended results.
Helping out the students behind the scenes are two alumni. Laura Christensen ’04 is doing make-up for the production and engineer Evan Willms ’03 is doing the sound. The show goes on at 7:00 pm, April 23rd and 24th in the Junior School gym. Admission is free, but due to seating limitations, tickets must be booked in advance through reception.
